HEART Altadena, Helping Every Altadenan Rebuild Together, is a community-led design initiative formed after the Eaton Fire to ensure every displaced household has a clear, feasible path home. We provide FREE spatial design services—architectural, interior, and landscape, helping families rebuild homes that are financially attainable, thoughtfully designed, and rooted in their identity and connection to Altadena. HEART’s design work is carried forward through a trusted network of local service providers—many fire-impacted themselves—who offer significantly reduced rates to further reduce rebuild costs and ensure a coordinated, feasible path from design to construction. Whether you are a homeowner navigating the uncertainty of rebuilding or a supporter who wants to help families return home, HEART is here to stand in the gap, turning an overwhelming, technical process into a guided, human-centered path forward.

FREE Spatial Design Services

For families who are underinsured or unable to afford professional design services, HEART provides full spatial design services—architectural, interior, and landscape—at no cost. These services, typically representing up to $100,000 in value, are often the determining factor in whether a family can rebuild and remain in Altadena. We work alongside you from concept through detailed design schematics, ensuring your home is thoughtfully designed, and truly yours. Capacity is limited, and we prioritize households whose ability to rebuild depends on this support.

Help Expand Our Capacity
Help Families Return Home

The need for HEART’s work is overwhelming, and our current capacity is far smaller than the number of families seeking help. Insurance timelines are running out, construction costs are uncertain, and many households—long-term residents, multigenerational families, and retirees—are at real risk of permanent displacement. Families are joining our waitlist because professional design support is often the determining factor in whether they can rebuild at all.

HEART is not yet funded at the level required to meet this demand. Your donation directly expands our ability to serve more households—allowing us to bring on additional design staff, maintain one-on-one support, and continue guiding families through the hundreds of decisions that shape financial feasibility. With your support, we can turn stalled rebuilds into clear, viable paths home and ensure Altadena’s recovery is shaped by the people who call it home.

A Community Rebuilding Together

HEART partners with a trusted network of local service providers—contractors, fabricators, designers, and artisans—many of whom were fire-impacted themselves. By working together, we help families rebuild affordably while supporting neighbors who are also recovering and rebuilding their livelihoods. These providers offer significantly reduced rates to fire-impacted households, lowering construction costs and keeping recovery dollars in Altadena. We also reclaim fallen trees from the fire and use them as finish materials, returning them home in a new form that carries forward the story of resilience and renewal.
